Albert Hall Llandrindod Wales 02/07/2022 History The Albert Hall was originally built as a church hall in 1896. It went on to become a Victorian period theatre in 1922. The theatre is the oldest venue in Mid-Wales and grade II listed. In 1905 the adjoining church was re built and the Albert Halls basement was converted into a church schoolroom. In 1914 during the First World War, the Royal Army Medical Corps billeted 4,000 men in Llandrindod for training. They used the Hall for entertainment and social gathering. In 1922 the war ended so the theatre was reopened its doors and became a “silent”cinema and a new art deco foyer installed, which remains to this day.
